Sections of cleared trees, markers and signs mark the path of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline near Wintergreen VA. The ACP is one of two Dominion Power natural gas pipelines that will start in West Virginia, cut through Virginia and end in North Carolina. The ACP once completed will be around 600 miles long and will come through the Jefferson National Forest in western VA then come just south of Staunton and cut through Virginia's Blue RIdge then head south to Carolina, with a section that will spur off and head to Norfolk. Locals of the Shenandoah Valley are concerned that the Dominion pipeline will harm the local ecosystem and possibly contaminate streams and rivers in the area. The ACP will cut through a section of the mountains that I have come to know very well over the time I've lived here.
